Tuna Burgers with Ginger and Soy

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/2 pounds fresh tuna steak
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 inches fresh ginger root, grated or minced
  • 3 1/2 Tbs Tamari dark soy sauce
  • 2 scallions chopped
  • 2 tsp sesame oil (eyeball the amount)
  • 1 tsp black pepper and 1/2 tsp coarse salt (eyeball it)
  • 4 kaiser rolls

Avocado Mayo Ingredients

  • 1 avocado chopped
  • 1/3 cup or less of mayo

Preparation:

  1. Cube tuna steak into bite size pieces and place in food processor.
  2. Pulse the processor to coarse grind the tuna. Transfer tuna to bowl.
  3. Combine tuna with garlic, ginger, dark soy sauce, sesame oil, scallions, and salt and pepper.
  4. Form 4 large patties, 1 1/2 inch thick.
  5. Cook on grill at med./high heat 3 mins. on each side for rare, up to 6 mins/side for well done. Grill rolls to toast.
  6. Lightly salt avocado to season, mix with mayo and spoon onto burgers.
